Bad Beat Jackpot games have become bigger, better and more profitable than ever. August 29 KADI made online poker history by hitting the Record $821,670.69 Bad Beat Jackpot at Absolute Poker. KADI lost a 10-high Straight Flush to a King-high Straight Flush. Seated at one of Absolute Poker’s Bad Beat Jackpot tables, KADI’s losing hand netted her $267,042.97 in cash. If you lose a hand holding four eights (8888) or an anything better, that’s a bad beat. Both hole cards must be included in the winning and losing hand. As soon as someone hits a qualifying bad beat, 65% of the jackpot will be shared between everyone at the online poker table where the bad beat went down. 25% will go towards the next jackpot and 10% will go to the house. The loser of the hand – ie. the bad beat victim - will take 50% of the prize. The winner of the hand will take 25% of the prize. The rest of the players seated at the table will share the remaining 25%. To fund the Jackpot AP collect $0.50 from the pot of each raked hand that is raked .25 or more. The rules for the Bad Beat tables at Party Poker are almost identical to AP.
One other good reason to play at the Bad Beat tables, besides that it’s really exciting, is that the games at these tables differ quite a bit from normal cash games. When the jackpot is big these tables attracts a lot of gamblers and weak players. Their purpose to play is to hit the jackpot so they will call every time they have a theoretical chance to hit. This makes the games extremely loose and passive on the medium and lower limits. If you play a tight aggressive game and don’t think too much about the jackpot you are almost guaranteed to win good money here. Last week I played a lot at Party Pokers Bad Beat Tables. The Jackpot reached almost $800K before someone hit it and made something like $260K. But when the pot was 400K I actually got a shot at it. I had pocket ten’s and my opponent Q-9 spades. The flop came Js, 10s, x. The turn was the 8 of spades and he hit his straight flush. That gave me one out on the river to hit my quads, loose to the straight flush and win the jackpot. Of course I didn’t hit, but it was really exciting to have a 1-44 shot to win $130K.
Absolute Poker is the only online poker site open to U.S. players to feature Bad Beat Jackpot tables. For non-US players Party Poker have the best and biggest Bad Beat Jackpot.
